PowerFal’s senior management team – Chris, Hugh and Sharron – formed the company in 1995, having previously worked together at TurboNed Falmouth, diesel and turbocharger services.

The company’s continued success and expansion resulted in PowerFal moving to its current premises in 2003.

Chris trained as an apprentice fitter at Penzance Dry Dock followed by 6 years at sea as a marine engineer officer with P&O Deep Sea Cargo Division. He left the sea to work for 3 years in the marine division of Seacore overwater drilling contractors, before leaving to become a self-employed marine services engineer and subsequently in a partnership providing diesel and turbocharger services. Following a brief period as MD of TurboNed (Falmouth) Ltd he left to form PowerFal Limited with Sharron and Hugh in January of 1995.

Hugh trained as an apprentice mechanic with BP Tanker Company for four years then moved to Esso Petroleum Company as Engineer Mechanic. After five years’ service with Esso he left the merchant navy to work at Holmans Dry Dock Penzance as a diesel engine fitter. He joined TurboNed (Falmouth) Ltd as diesel and turbocharger service engineer and left the company with Chris and Sharron to form PowerFal Limited in 1995.

Sharron worked alongside Chris setting up and running the bookkeeping, accounts, personnel and wage roll systems of the marine engineering partnership ‘Jelbert & Hough Diesel & Turbocharger Services’ in 1989. She became a Director of TurboNed (Falmouth) Ltd after the partnership was bought out and subsequently worked with Chris and Hugh to set up and run PowerFal Limited from 1995.
